International Youth Day 07 Celebration in Bangladesh

Be seen Be heard: Youth Participation for Development, under this banner Bangladeshi youth organizations networks jointly organize International Youth Day celebration in Bangladesh on 12 th August 2007. Part of the event there was a special news letter published by youth lead volunteer organization Center for Human Development, a signature campaign by Bangladesh, Association of Young Researcher and national work shop on ICT, HIV and employment at Business Faculty auditorium. University of Dhaka , Bangladesh . There are 500 young people attend the workshop. This workshop was jointly organized by Youth Forum for ICT Development, Global Youth Coalition on HIV/ AIDS, Bangladesh, Association of Young Researcher, National Federation of Youth Organisations in Bangladesh, Youth Employment Summit Bangladesh Country Network, National Association of UNESCO Clubs in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Association for Social Advancement (BASA), Relief International and School Online.

Prof. S.M.A. Faiz, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka inaugurated the programs as the Chief Guest. Mr. Akbar Uddin Ahmed, Director, Institute of Business Studies , Darul Ihsan University , Mr. Mostafa Kamal Majumder, Editor, Daily New Nation Md. Biozid Jessorey Secretary General, Youth forum for ICT Development, Bangladesh and Mr. A.K.M. Sirajul Islam, Executive Director, BASA, were present at the occasion as speakers and the special guests.

Mr. Masud Mannan, Director General, Ministry of Foreign affairs, Government of Bangladesh, Acting President, National Federation of Youth Organisations in Bangladesh presided over the workshop.

Prof SMA Faiz urged the youths to come forward to build the nation by using their talent and valuable time that was very important for the development of a country. He also added that Youth have to face many problems in this age and over come those with behave ness otherwise the expectation of the nation will be frustrated.

Md. Biozid Jessorey said that from the beginning of Bangladesh young people play great roles in the development sector. But they are not evaluating like older. To eradicate poverty among young people unemployment is main barrier. ICT can use as tools to develop skills of young people which will help them to get paid jobs / be self employed.

Akbar Uddin Ahmed said, the youths of the country have to work hard for sustainable development of our country.

Mostofa Kamal Mojumdar stressed the need for the youth to develop themselves to take change of the country's future. By nationally we should give priority HIV/AIDS priority among youth.
